Wonderful, finally the "magic compositions" of the collaboration projects were sent around the world. They have grown from experiences, knowledge, discussions, ups and downs, friendships and - out of what cannot be grasped in words...

Face-to-face meeting "Züri begrünt" participants

Green up Zurich

Finally the time had come - some participants of the "Züri begrünt" (zuericooldown.ch) focus group (Green up Zurich participatory) met in person on Thursday, 2 December 2021. We started at the Kulturpark (kulturpark.ch) in Züri West presenting the web app prototype followed by a discussion and exchange of ideas.

After a short walk and app testing under the plane tree at Schiffbau (example in the web app) we rounded off our get together in "Les Halles" (les-halles.ch) next door where we discussed further over a good dinner. We enjoyed it a lot!

Thank you all for being there, for your enthusiasm and feedback.

Looking back we are proud to have created a web app prototype as pioneers of a participatory movement.

Citizen Science Summer School

For 2 weeks in June '21 - including the longest day and Summer Start of 21/06 - I participated in the remote Citizen Science Summer School from ETH and UZH.
Together with about 30 researchers, citizens and practitioners, experienced and newcomers, we went on exciting journeys of acquiring new knowledge as well as exchanging and passing on experiences, not only theoretically but also tangibly. Have I piqued your curiosity? Then take a look at the program (citizenscienceschool.uzh.ch)

In an international context, there was room for discussion of controversial issues from different perspectives of participatory approaches. The participants came from a wide range of disciplines: psychology, medicine, environmental science, biology, geography, material science, social science, media science, art, hydrology, archaeology, NGOs. Participants from Bhutan or Brazil have other hurdles to overcome than participants from Switzerland, France or Finland. And yet there are many things in common. There was a strong consensus that the way of communication is particularly important and also needs support and expertise.
